Nestling close to the lake basin is Bombay Shola, a charming patch of natural forest area crisscrossed by trekking paths. Many endemic and rare species of avifauna and a 500 year old tree, said to be the oldest in the Palani Hills, are among the sights to be seen along the trekking paths.immediately next to the Kodaikanal Lake basin. Several trekking paths wind through this forest. Many endemic and rare birds can be observed undisturbed here. A large 500 year old tree, syzygium densiflorum, said to be the oldest in the Palni Hills is an added attraction in this shola.
